I had set the fuzziness to 2km and it does show the radius and the pin in the general area (with in the radius). Why would send it the precise location then? I like the fuzziness. I don’t need anybody to track my exact location.

Toggling the fixed position helped. Now it’s working.

I am rural AB so lots of sky available. I’ll give it some time I guess. No chatter on the longfast and my message hasn’t gone anywhere yet. I’ll give it some time too. As far as I understand people have to be available to receive not like email or text where it’s just delivered to read later. Edit: got the location fixed. I toggled fixed position and that was enough to kick it into gear.

Thanks I checked. It’s switched off. Edit: I toggled it to fixed for a few minutes and then back off. That actually got it going. Now it’s a (fuzzy) position at my location. Thanks for that!

I don’t have a potato cannon. The solar node would still have to be mounted. It’s all ok. We find another spot.

We need a bucket crane thing or so. I am sure we find another place. This would be just easy to mount if it was reachable.

So after a lot of back and forth I finally needed up getting two T1000-E from Seed Studio but through AliExpress. They seem to come and go on their homepage and also Ali (maybe issues keeping them in stock?) One is on its way now and the other one shipping Nov 4. I hope it all goes well and I finally can join in!

Yeah maybe. Seeed is out of stock as well and so are all the (few) others that I found. I’ll see what the shop says where I ordered. I need my money back anyways.

I am by far the most tech interested person in this neighbourhood so gifting the node will go a long way I think. Smaller entry barrier when it’s free. And for on the farm rugged is better for sure.

As for battery life I was thinking that I have several battery packs for emergencies and I should be able to charge it from them. I was also thinking solar on our roof as a node.

The portability/ruggedness for a day beats the long battery life on the farm I think.

I looked at those too. A bit more expensive but then the shipping really added to the price. I get the T1000-E shipped free.

I figured I go with these first and play around with them. I plan on talking some neighbours into joining for emergencies and they’ll need nodes. A good way to pass on the T1000-E maybe if I want to get a different device later. The Heltec mesh pocket is definitely on my list.

I was wondering about this. Is there a way to set location as general area vs precise? I saw somewhere it can be disabled too I believe.
